This year also brought some good, too. It brought Popcorn. And an expansion in my business. And a lovely fall/winter. So I am cautiously optimistic about 2012. I have made my resolutions for next year (which are actually more of goals than resolutions). But first, I'd like to re-visit my 2011 resolutions:
- 2011 will be a year of saving. Check. We have saved a lot of money this year. I have worked hard at being disciplined in our saving/spending. There's almost always room for improvement, but we saved so much more money than I thought was possible in a year.
- Live a more "glamorous" life. According to my definition of just getting out and doing more, I would say I did alright on this one. We went on lots of picnics this summer, and went on a few mini trips around the area. I'd still like to be a little more interesting and "glamorous" though.
- Weekly photo project. I was doing so well on this for the first half of the year or so. And then I went completely kaput. But this fall, when I started shooting less for my project, is when I started my darkroom class and got a job working with photographer. So I'm still working at it.
- Shoot with film more. Check. I'd like to shoot even more film, though.
- Be more likeable. Not sure if I accomplished this one. I don't think I have any more friends than I did last year at this time. Some people I thought were friends turned out not to be. And I have made friends with new people. So it all evened out. Not sure if I'm more likeable, though. Guess I can't become completely bitter, cynical, and spit on people quite yet.
All in all, I'd say I did a pretty decent job with my resolutions. For 2012, I decided to make a cute art print to frame and hang up where I can see it and be reminded (which, I have my 2011 resolutions hung up over my computer, and it has helped me remember them throughout the year; this year's will just be cuter). So, are you ready to see my goals?
I'm pretty excited about them. Half are measurable. Half are not, but I think I'll still be able to see a change if I keep them up.
So, how about you? Do you have your resolutions made for next year? Excited to see 2011 go? Or was it better to you than it was to me?

I like your 2012 resolutions a lot, and the display is quite pleasant. We kept our 2011 lists from your party last year on the fridge and look at them every day. Sadly, some of the things that are simple one-time deals I didn't do. But some of them is did. Nothing formally planned yet for 2012 goals that I haven't already declared, but that may change. I hope 2012 is a great year for you!
I think you did really great in meeting your goals.
I like the idea of a cute wall print of 2012 goals. I might have to copy that one but maybe have it huge and a copy in EACH room. I might learn how to do those word clouds.
I think I will scratch 2011 off my last year list and add 2012. I seem to always be working on the same 50!!
I like your goals and I there is a variety of things which makes it workable. One funny--I put the first 4 lines together as one goal=suppress fewer, generous thoughts. I was wondering how that was a positive goal.
2012 is looking like a good year for Emily!
OK, the comment by Stephanie, that is above, was made by me but Stephanie had been on my computer and was logged in. I didn't notice until I posted.
Sorry. I even immediately started posting this comment but got interrupted and it is now almost 3 hrs. later. CRAZY around here.
Because of friends like you (you know, you are the only friend I've never met in person), I have grown a LOT this last year...just by reading your thoughts and thinking about the questions you raise. So, thank you for helping me to become a better person. This post, again, has helped me...a goal not written down is just a dream (or at least I think that is what someone once said). Happy New Year and my this one be better than the last!
I love your goals/resolutions, and they are beautiful indeed. I also would like to add that I think you are very friendly. You have been a good friend to me. And for me personally, I am also glad to see 2011 go. It was probably my most "glamorous" year, but it was certainly not one of the easiest, or even happiest, though big "happy" things happened. I just want a calm year. A loving year. I want to go on daily walks to. I think it makes everything better.
