Anniversaries

Today is my grandparents' anniversary. I'm not sure why I remember this date, but I always do. I don't even know what anniversary it is. Maybe 64th? My grandpa died several years ago, but my grandma is still going strong. I miss her. She lives in St George, and that is a long way from here.

I have very fond memories of both my grandparents. My grandpa with his hugs that literally kept me from breathing, they were so tight. And his yelling and obscenities. But it was all pretty endearing. And my grandma wouldn't put up with my picky eating when I'd visit her in the summertime. And she made me stop talking in baby talk (which was a very, very good thing; I was way too old to be still using baby talk). I always felt welcome and loved, though. Oh, and she always smells so good. Grandmas should always smell good, don't you think? And she's the prettiest grandma ever. She's always been pretty, though. Even before she became a grandma.
 See? She's gorgeous.

When I was little, I thought she was named after processed cheese food. Her name is actually Valetta (pronounced "val-EE-ta").

My grandpa went blind for a few years, and during this time, we lived with them for a few months (it was between Germany and Tucson; it's also where the Great Heating Pad Disaster of 1986 took place). I thought I'd draw him a picture, but since he couldn't see and need braille in order to read, I figured I draw the picture using dots instead of lines. Everyone laughed when they saw it. I think it was pretty smart of me.

Happy anniversary, Grandparents!
